Buyer classification data consists of CoreLogic’s proprietary data, which is derived by identifying the profile of a buyer when a title is transferred from one name to another. In addition to the mortgage market share trends and peer-to-peer comparison chart, the premium edition of the MMS dashboard also provides a view of the buyer classification distribution data. Select the New registrations – All option under ‘Classification’ filter to display the buyer classification composition chart.
The blue bars represent the market share for each buyer classification, and the pink bars represent the Lender’s buyer proportions.
Based on the example in Image 1, the data can be interpreted as follows:
- First home buyers made up 31.6% of Lender’s new mortgage registrations for March 2022, whereas the market contribution of FHB was 27.8%
- Mover made up 17.8% of Lender’s new mortgage registrations for March 2022, whereas the market contribution of mover was 25.8%
- MPO (Multiple property owners) made up 37.2% of Lender’s new mortgage registrations for March 2022, whereas the market contribution of MPO was 30.8%
